Pigs can sense
(like all animals) the death and
danger awaiting them at slaughter. Many workers are often cruel to the animals
being slaughtered
(like killing them isn't bad enough!).
Broken legs, meningitis, Pnuemonia, cuts & grazes, ruptured stomachs & abesses are all common in Todays pig farming.
Piglets are killed at about 5 months old
for Bacon, sausages.ham & pork.
'Breeding stock' are kept in farrowing crates to breed piglets used for meat. Farrowing crates are often the same size as the pig held within it. The sows cannot move forward or backward and cannot turn around. The bars of the farrowing crate also prevent the mother sow from reaching her new born piglets after birth. When some piglets die after birth or during they are often left for days or thrown into a bin to rot. The surviving piglets are taken away for fattening early on, when they are around 4 weeks old. The sow is forcibly impregnated again 5 days after .

At slaughter the terrified pigs are shocked behind the ears to knock them out before they are killed. Unfortunatly the frightend animals struggle and many are slaughterd fully conscience as the shock was poorly directed.
Pigs who become sick are often left to die without vetinary care. Many will go days without food or water before succuming to death.
END FACTORY FARMING!
Like most farm animals Pigs are injected daily with Antibiotics to prevent sickness. Combined with dirt arming habits (that have been exposed in the UK as well as abroad) helps to create superbugs like swineflu. Ask yor doctor what happens if you take too many antibiotics!
