common to find birds
trampling on the decomposing
bodies of dead birds as
well as walking in thier own
excrement.
Egg laying hens
are sent to slaughter
at 18 months - 2 years
old after a lifetime
of egg laying .
Hens live for up to 7

slsughter at 42 days
old. They are fattend
quickly and this
sometimes causes birds
to collapse under their
own weight, most can't
even walk. The birds
with the body of a fat
adult bird and the high
pitched chirp of a baby
chick.
As many as 50,000
broiler chickens share
the same shed.
Where each bird has
less than 600cm2 of
space ...thats about
the size of a computer
screen.
In egg production 5 hens
share the space equvilant
to a microwave. The birds
often go mad and peck each
other, creating sores
and wounds.
To stop this,
thier beaks are cut off.
